Darkness Settles

My soul lifts up beyond the grave
These shackles cannot hold it in place
You cannot tell how I'll behave
When we first meet, face to face

The walls, they stretch and never end
I feel trapped while I escape
I need some time for my heart to mend
It's just as black as a solemn cape

My feet fall with these silent steps
As I sneak ever closer to you
The silence filled with awful pep
As the bright dawn breaks anew

I sit under this tree of bark
As I await you in the dark
